Nepalese rupee is the currency of Nepal and the currency code is NPR. Nepalese rupee notes are available in the denomination of 1, 2, 5, 10, 20, 25, 50, 100, 500 and 1000. Coins are generally available in the denomination of 1 and 2.
Foreign exchange can be made at most of the hotels, travel agencies, airlines, travel merchants and major tourist areas around the city. There is also abundance of cash machines and ATMs which will accept cards issued by leading international banking networks. Reputed credit cards such as Visa, Master card etc are accepted at most of tourist locations. Visitors are suggested to exchange the large bills while travelling as small shops, taxi, rickshaw etc seldom have change. Money exchange can be carried out through the bank or money exchange counters available at various locations.
