Show AllEverest high passes trekking includes the trekking along the 3 high passes in Khumbu (Everest) region namely Kongma La (5535m), Cho La (5381m) and Renjo La (5389m). The 3 passes trekking is different than the usual Everest Base Camp trekking trail. The high passes trekking trail branches out and rejoin the standard Everest trekking trail. The 3 high passes trekking trail is much more challenging and offers the most beautiful sight of mountain ranges. The high passes trekking trail is less explored and more scenic than the standard Everest trail. The three passes in the Everest region are higher than the popular Everest Base Camp (5360m) and comprises of steep uphill and curvy downhill walk. The three high passes trekking trail is the ultimate trail than covers the best of the Everest region. The panoramic mountains, local Sherpa culture and the beautiful trekking route provide the complete Everest region experience.
The high passes trekking route include major beautiful regions like Kalapathar (5545m), Everest Base Camp, Gokyo Lake, Gokyo Ri (5355m) and the 3 high passes. Kalapathar, Gokyo Ri and Gokyo Lake offers 360 degree panorama of the mountains and are the most popular view point in Everest region. The 3 high passes trekking is physically demanding but equally rewarding as one have the glimpses of many peaks above 7000m and some above 8000m. The towering mountains like Mount Everest (highest peak in the world), Cho Yu (8201m), Lhotse and Makalu (8463m) are the few mountains above 8000m in the Khumbu region. The travelers are rewarded with the heavenly view of beautiful mountains like Ama Dablam, Pumori, Nuptse, Cholatse etc. Apart from the mountain beauty, the Sherpa villages, highest monastery at Tengboche, rare floral and faunal species of Sagarmatha National park highlights of the high passes trail. The Khumbu region at the beginning of the trail is home for Sherpa habitants and is decorated with praying flags, stupas and prayer wheel at the monastery. Among the three high passes, Kongma La pass is the highest and Cho La pass is chilling icy Glacier pass. Renjo La pass is most recently discovered pass for traveling. The marvelous Ama Dablam peak offers the best sight surpassing all the higher peaks in that region.

Day 02:Kathmandu Sightseeing tour and trekking preparation.
Day 03:Fly to Lukla airport and trekking up to Phakding.
Day 04:Trekking from Phakding to Namche Bazar.
Day 05:Acclimatization day at Namche Bazar.
Day 06:Trekking from Namche Bazar to Tengboche.
Day 07:Trekking from Tengboche to Dingboche.
Day 08:Acclimatization day at Dingboche.
Day 09:Trekking from Dingboche to Chhukung.
Day 10:Trekking from Chhukung to Lobuche via Kongma La Pass.
Day 11:Trekking from Lobuche to Everest Base Camp and trek back to Gorakshep.

Day 20:Fly back to Kathmandu from Lukla. Enjoy the farewell dinner.
Day 21:Departure.
Day 01Arrival at Kathmandu (1350m).Upon your arrival at the international Airport at Kathmandu, our representative would pick you up and transfer to a hotel. A short briefing about the next day activities is provided and stay overnight at a hotel.
Day 02Kathmandu Sightseeing tour and trekking preparation.After breakfast you are guided out for the sightseeing tour of different UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Kathmandu. We visit different culturally significant locations such as Boudhhanath, Swayambhunath, Kathmandu durbar square and Pashupatinath. We prepare for trekking and stay overnight at the hotel.
Day 03Fly to Lukla airport and trekking up to Phakding.After the early morning breakfast, we fly to Lukla from the domestic airport terminal at Kathmandu. The scenic flight provides the beautiful view of Himalayas. Upon our arrival at Lukla airport, we start our trekking towards Phakding. After about 4 hours of trekking we arrive at Phakding and check into a lodge to stay overnight.
Day 04Trekking from Phakding to Namche Bazar.We trek along the trail at the bank of Dudh Koshi River and move uphill through the forest dominated by pine trees. We enter Jorsale Park and cross the suspension bridge over the river. We arrive at Namche Bazar after few hours uphill walk through the pine forest. The Sherpa capital Namche Bazar is surrounded by Himalayas and is the prime location for trade and accommodation. We stay overnight at a guesthouse in Namche Bazar.
Day 05Acclimatization day at Namche Bazar.To avoid different altitude related health problems we take a rest day. The acclimatization helps our body to adapt in the high altitudes. We explore around the local market, nearby village and enjoy our day at Namche Bazar. Namche Bazar offers heavenly sight of lights and stars during the night time with a clear sky.
Day 06Trekking from Namche Bazar to Tengboche.Tengboche is popular for having traditional monastery on its premise. After the breakfast we move towards Tengboche. We pass through the jungle and may encounter different Himalayan species like the herd of Himalayan Thar. We pass through different locations like Kayangjhuma, Sanasa and Phunki Thenga. On elevating further from Phunki Thenga we arrive at Tengboche. Tengboche provides the magnificent sight of Nuptse, Ama Dablam, Taboche and Everest. We stay overnight at a local tea house in Tengboche.
Day 07Trekking from Tengboche to Dingboche.Today’s trekking starts with a steep descent through the rhododendron and pine forest towards a small river ‘Emja Khola’. We pass Emja Kola over a suspension bridge and ascend higher. After hours of trekking we reach Dingboche. Dingboche is a beautiful location surrounded by the forest and offers glorious view of different mountain ranges. We check into a lodge and stay overnight.
Day 08Acclimatization day at Dingboche.We take a rest day at Dingboche as a preparation for the upcoming high altitude trekking. We can explore around the village and enjoy the magnificent view of Lhotse, Nuptse and Ama Dablam peaks. Acclimatization helps us to adapt higher altitude environment. We enjoy our day at Dingboche and stay overnight at the lodge.
Day 09Trekking from Dingboche to Chhukung.After the morning breakfast we ascend through the rocky trail towards Chhukung. We pass through high altitude landscape and Emja Khola valley. We can have the glorious sight of Lhotse, Island peak and Thamserku along the trail. We trek through Bibre and reach the glacial Chhukung after walking over 4 hours. We enjoy the sight of the beautiful snowy peaks and the frozen surrounding. We stay overnight at a local tea house.
Day 10Trekking from Chhukung to Lobuche via Kongma La Pass.We start our trekking early in the morning as we have to climb the highest pass of the trekking trail. We continue a moderate level of trekking until Pokalden base camp. We take an elevated route through a narrow path to reach the summit of Kongma La Pass. After about 5-6 hours of trekking we reach the summit which offers the magnificent view of Himalayas and peaks. We descend downwards from the pass and arrive at Khumbu glacier. We trek further towards Lobuche and stay overnight at a tea house.
Day 11Trekking from Lobuche to Everest Base Camp and trek back to Gorakshep.Early morning we continue our trekking towards Everest Base Camp. We pass through moraines and ponds present in Khumbu glacier. After passing through the wet glacier we descend downhill to reach Gorakshep. We can have the sight of snow covered mountain peaks like Nuptse and Mt. Everest from Gorakshep. We check into a lodge and trek further towards the popular Everest Base Camp. We return back from Everest Base Camp and stay at the lodge in Gorakshep.
Day 12Trekking from Gorakshep to Kalapthar and from Kalaphar to Dzongla via Gorakshep.We start the early morning ascend towards Kalapathar. Lalapathar offers one the most beautiful sights of sunrise in the Himalayas. Kalapathar provides the panoramic view of different mountain peaks like Everest, Ama Dablam, Nuptse, Lhotse, Makalu, Pumori and multiple others. We return back to Gorakshep and trek towards Dzongla after the breakfast. We pass Lobuche and arrive at the pasture field of Dzongla village where we stay overnight at a tea house.
Day 13Trekking from Dzongla to Thaknag via Cho La Pass.After the early morning breakfast at Dzongla we start the trekking. Today we trek through the second pass of the trekking route, the Cho La Pass. We trek through small glacial river and snow covered path to reach the summit of Cho La Pass. The trekking along the snow covered path is regarded more challenging than peak climbing. The top of the snow covered Cho La Pass offers the beautiful view of mountains like Ama Dablam, Cholutse and many other Himalayas. We descend through the snowy and rocky trail with moraines and water deposits to finally arrive at Thaknag. We stay overnight at a lodge in Thaknag.
Day 14Trekking from Thaknag to Gokyo.After having the breakfast we start the trekking through the snowy path of Ngajumba glacier. We pass through beautiful frozen lakes and enjoy the mountain panorama throughout the high trekking trail. We finally arrive at the famous village of Gokyo with abundance of grazing location near the large lake. We stay overnight at the beautiful Gokyo village.
Day 15Exploration of the Gokyo valley and Acclimatization day.Today we ascend Gokyo ri peak which lies near the Gokyo village. We can have the alluring view of mountain ranges from Gokyo Ri summit. Gokyo Ri is one of the best view point on our trekking trail. It provides the awe-inspiring view of four mountains above 8000m namely Everest, Lhotse, Cho Yu and Makalu. We explore around the village and lakes and enjoy our acclimatization day at Gokyo village.
Day 16Trekking from Gokyo to Lungde via Renjo La Pass.We begin the trekking towards Renjo La Pass after the breakfast at Gokyo. We walk through the uphill stone trail and arrive at the top of the pass after few hours of lofty walking. We are rewarded with the magnificent vision of Himalayas from the summit of Renjo La Pass. We descend downhill through the curvy and rocky path towards Lungde. We can spot beautiful lakes along the trekking route to Lungde. We enjoy the accommodation at a local tea house in Lungde.
Day 17Trekking from Lungde to Thame.The trekking to Thame is easier as compared to the previous days’ trekking route. Thame is a significant Sherpa village in Everest region. It is the birthplace of Tenzing Norgay Sherpa (first mountaineer to reach the summit of Mt. Everest). Thame is popular for having hundreds of year old monastery where Mani Rimdo festival is celebrated annually. We explore the Sherpa village and stay overnight at a tea house.
Day 18Trekking from Thame to Namche Bazar. We start the trekking walking through Thame village and monastery on our descent towards Namche Bazar. We continue our downhill walk through the forest and along the bank of the river. We can spot a hydropower station on course of the trekking. We finally arrive at the Sherpa town Namche Bazar and stay overnight at a local tea house.
Day 19Trekking from Namche Bazar to Lukla.This is the final trekking day of the Everest high passes trekking. Today we walk uphill initially and then we hike down towards the river. We walk along the bank of river and through the bridges. After few hours of trekking and a final elevated ascent we arrive at Lukla. We enjoy our last trekking day at Lukla and stay overnight at a guest house.
Day 20Fly back to Kathmandu from Lukla. Enjoy the farewell dinner. We take the early morning flight to Kathmandu from Lukla airport. We arrive at Kathmandu after an hour of scenic flight. We move into a hotel and rest during the day. We can also perform souvenir shopping walking through the busy shopping markets of Kathmandu. Tonight we enjoy the dinner at a traditional Nepali restaurant watching the cultural dance performance. After the farewell dinner we return back to the hotel and stay overnight.
Day 21Departure.Thank you for performing Everest three high passes trekking in Nepal with Lovely Nepal Tours and Travel. Our representative will drop you to the airport for your final departure to the future destination.
The environmental, political and several other factors that are beyond the control of our team might be the hindrances in the trip. It is quite unusual for the alteration of whole itinerary; however, these factors can be responsible for the change and improvisation of the proposed itinerary. In such cases, the group leader or the trekking guide would decide the best alternative possible and try to minimize the problem as per the group’s interest. However, the company would not be responsible for the result of the alternatives and change in the suggested itinerary.
In case of health problems:
In case of altitude sickness and other health hazards during the trip, Lovely Nepal can charter a helicopter for you. In case you use this service, you can do the payment at our office. The payment receipt will be provided so that you can claim the amount from insurance.
In case of Flight Delay:
There might be certain delay in flight schedule from few hours to few days while flying to and from Lukla. The extreme weather conditions, technical problems and minimum visibility can be the barrier for the landing and taking off of the flight. In case of these difficulties, Lovely Nepal Tours can charter a helicopter to make sure you won’t miss your international flight. In this case, the cost of the chopper can be paid directly at our office. You would be provided with the payment receipt so that you can claim the amount from insurance. However, it is a good idea to keep few spare days at the end of the itinerary while trekking in Everest region to minimize the effect of flight delay.
