Everest Gokyo Chola Pass Trekking begins half an hour spectacular adventures mountain flight from Kathmandu airport to Lukla .This is an entry point to Everest Base Camp and other Everest region trekking. Flying from Kathmandu to Lukla offers a great mountain views including of Mt. Everest. We follow the Dudh Kosi valley to Namche Bazaar. The trail to Gokyo is a gradual ascent up the valley passing through Sagarmatha national park, patches of birch and rhododendron forest where the elusive musk deer can sometimes be seen. To cross Cho la pass you have to be mentally prepared because it needs 6 hours of energetic walk and the good physical fitness for adapting in this high altitude. Everest Gokyo Chola pass is very tiring trek gives you the chance to explore the Khumbu valley and around Gokyo lake.
Day 01:Arrive at Kathmandu airport (1345 meters).
Day 02:Information about trip and full day sightseeing around Kathmandu valley.
Day 03: Fly to Tenzing and Hillary Airport in Lukla (2840m) and trek to Phakding (2610m) about 3 hours.
Day 04:Trek to Namche Bazaar (3440m). About 5 hours.
Day 05:Acclimatization day in Namche Bazaar.
Day 06:Trek to Tengboche Monastery (3860 m). About 5 hours.
Day 07:Trek to Dingboche (4410 m). About 6 hours.
Day 08:Day trip to Chhukung valley (4730 meters) and trek back to Dingboche. About 4 hours.
Day 09:Trek to Lobuche (4910 meters). About 5 hours.
Day 10:Trek to Everest Base Camp (5364 m) via Gorakshep (5140m). About 8 hours.
Day 11:Early morning hike up to Kalapatthar (5550 m) then trek to Zhongla (4860 m). About 7 hours..
Day 12:Trek to Thangna (4700 m) via Cho-La Pass (5420 m) About 6 hours.
Day 13:Trek to Gokyo (4790 m). About 4 hours.
Day 14:Early morning hike to Gokyo-Ri (5483 m) and trek to Machhermo (4470m). About 7 hours.
Day 15:Trek back to Namche. About 6 hours.
Day 16:Trek back to Lukla. About 6 hours.
Day 17:Fly back to Kathmandu .
Day 18:Transfer to international airport for your onward destination.
Day 01Arrive at Kathmandu airport (1345 meters).Welcome to the Himalayan country of Nepal. Representative of Lovely Nepal Tours and Travels receives at the airport and transfer you to the hotel. A short briefing is given to you about the activities of tomorrow. Overnight at hotel. (B & B)
Day 02Information about trip and full day sightseeing around Kathmandu valley. After the breakfast, you set out for the guided city sightseeing trip. Kathmandu is a city of temples. The tour escorts you to the UNESCO listed World Heritage Sites. Temples and Buddhist Stupas are the focused travelling monumental sites. Pashupatinath (Hindu shrine), Boudhanath (Buddhist Stupa), Kathmandu Durbar Square and Swayambhunath Stupa are some of them. The medieval arts and architectures are amazing. Drive back to the hotel and take a rest. Overnight at hotel. (B & B)
Day 03 Fly to Tenzing and Hillary Airport in Lukla (2840m) and trek to Phakding (2610m) about 3 hours. From Kathmandu, we fly to Tenzing and Hillary airport at Lukla, which takes 35 min. There we meet our trip crew and have a brief introduction. Then we take a walk through the barley and potato fields above the Dudh Koshi valley. Crossing a suspension bridge, we reach to Phakding. This is the first day of the trek, so we walk less. Overnight at lodge. (B, L, D)
Day 04Trek to Namche Bazaar (3440m). About 5 hours. After the breakfast, we begin to ascend through the entrance of the Sagarmatha National Park. It is a home of the top of the world- Mt. Everest (8848m) and some other 8000 meter peaks, rare found flora and fauna along with Lakes and Glaciers. It is a continual climb up to the bustling Sherpa town. Namche is not only beautiful town but also a center of the Khumbu region. Overnight at lodge. (B, L, D)
Day 05Acclimatization day in Namche Bazaar. As we have entered to the alpine section of the Everest region, we need to acclimatize to the growing altitude. If we do some acclimatizing courses, we can avoid mountain sickness. It is a hiking that helps to adapt in the high altitude. We go to walk around after the breakfast around the Khumjung and Syangboche. The views of Mt. Everest, Ama Dablam, Lhotse and other can be seen outstanding. The Sherpa cultural attractions as monasteries, chhortens and museum are wonderful. Back to the shelter and rest. Overnight at lodge. (B, L, D)
Day 06Trek to Tengboche Monastery (3860 m). About 5 hours. With a breakfast, we leave Namche Bazaar. Then the real Himalayan panoramas can be seen more stunningly. Passing the forest, we descend to the Riverbank and walk through it. We have a lunch at the restaurant beside the River, enjoying hissing skill of the River. Then we walk gradually along the bank and finally ascend to the Tengbuche monastery, which is a popular pilgrimage destination of the Tibetan Buddhists. Overnight at lodge. (B, L, D)
Day 07Trek to Dingboche (4410 m). About 6 hours. We can join at the Morning Prayer in the Tengbuche monastery. After the breakfast, we trek down to Debuche for half an hour. It is located beside the River. Crossing the River, we gradually walk up to Pangboche. The monastery of Pangboche is known as the oldest monastery in the Khumbu region. Then we walk through the green forest and crossing numerous Mani walls to reach the beautiful Dingbuche village. Overnight at lodge. (B, L, D)
Day 08Day trip to Chhukung valley (4730 meters) and trek back to Dingboche. About 4 hours. We are almost at 4500 meters. We need good acclimatization to avoid the mountain sickness due to the high altitude. So, Lovely Nepal Tours and Travels take you to the day hike to the Chhukung village. Walking higher, we can have a good acclimatization to the increasing altitude that will help on the following days. Mt. Makalu, Lhotse, Nuptse and the neighboring peaks can be explored during the hiking. The sceneries of barlely fields are awesome that are surrounded by the stone walls. Then we back to Dingbuche and rest. Overnight at lodge. (B, L, D)
Day 09Trek to Lobuche (4910 meters). About 5 hours. Leaving Dingbuche, we cross numerous Mani walls. Walking about an hour, we get the spectacular view of the Pheriche beneath the airborne peaks of the Khumbu region. Climbing to Thukla, we stop there for the lunch. On the way from there, we see the stone memorials of the Everest climbers, who have demised during their adventurous climbing. Then we trek further to Lobuche and rest. Overnight at lodge. (B, L, D)
Day 10Trek to Everest Base Camp (5364 m) via Gorakshep (5140m). About 8 hours. After the breakfast, we walk over the Italian research center dealing the glacial trail and rocky moraines. The Khumbu ice fall region can be seen stunning. Gradually, we trek up to Gorakshep, have a lunch and check in to the lodge. Then we have our day pack and begin to hike to the Everest base camp, which is the base of the top of the world. On the one hand, Everest climbers set camps at the base camp and engage in climbing practices. On the other, EBC trekkers have a fantasy to reach the Everest base camp. Then we trek down to Gorakshep and rest. Overnight at lodge. (B, L, D)
Day 11Early morning hike up to Kalapatthar (5550 m) then trek to Zhongla (4860 m). About 7 hours.. Early in the morning, we begin to hike up to the Kalapatthar. It is a wonderful viewpoint of the snowy peaks of the Everest region and sunrise over those peaks. Mt. Everest, Lhotse, Lhotse Shar, Makalu and other surrounding peaks can be explored. You may like to take several snaps, so, this is the time to arrest those astounding views in your camera. Having such different experience, we climb down to Gorakshep, have a breakfast and trek down gradually to Dzongla. Overnight at lodge. (B, L, D)
Day 12Trek to Thangna (4700 m) via Cho-La Pass (5420 m) About 6 hours. We begin to trek in the early morning as it becomes far tougher in the day time. From the beginning, we climb through the steep and glacier moraine trail. Due to the altitude, the trail remains snowy most of the time. Crossing the Cho La Pass is thus described as far challenging as the peak climbing. Reaching at the Cho La top, you feel conquering the earth. Mt. Everest, Lhotse and other peaks can be seen. Enjoying the quality time, we begin to descend, which is again more challenging. Gradually we reach to Thanga, one of the remotest villages of the Khumbu region and take a rest. Overnight at lodge.
Day 13Trek to Gokyo (4790 m). About 4 hours. It is comparatively comfortable trek today. After breakfast, we take a steady walk and reach to the Gokyo valley, beautifully resided beside the Dudh Pokhari. The trail is rocky, that requires special attention. We just collect energy for the following day’s hike as we reach to Gokyo and rest. Overnight at lodge.
Day 14Early morning hike to Gokyo-Ri (5483 m) and trek to Machhermo (4470m). About 7 hours. Gokyo Ri is another most hiked destination. What can be astounding that climbing to the Gokyo Ri and explore the hidden wonders of the Khumbu region. This hike is very much effective to acclimatize in the high altitude. The longest Nzozumba glacier, Everest 4th and 5th Lake along with the airborne peaks that include Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Makalu, Cho-Oyu and Gychung Kang all project their beauties. Day lunch pack will be brought. Then we descend to the Gokyo valley and trek down to Machhermo. Overnight at lodge. (B, L, D)
Day 15Trek back to Namche. About 6 hours. Viewing the picturesque scenario of Khumbi La and Tawoche peak, we begin to trek down. The trail is dominated by the Yak grazing meadows and the summer camps. Walking down, the trek goes through the rhododendron, juniper and birch forest. The walk becomes easier as the altitude decreases and we reach to Namche. Overnight at lodge. (B, L, D)
Day 16Trek back to Lukla. About 6 hours. This is the last day of foothill excursion in the Everest region. First we exit from the Sagarmatha National Park. Crossing some steel bridges, we trek down to Phakding via Monju and trek further to Lukla. It is the last day with our group. Having a good memory, we spend the evening. Overnight at lodge. (B, L, D)
Day 17Fly back to Kathmandu . In the morning, we fly back to Kathmandu from Lukla. Then transfer to the hotel. The whole day can be used for your rest or go out for the shopping. The environmental, political and several other factors that are beyond the control of our team might be the hindrances in the trip. It is quite unusual for the alteration of whole itinerary; however, these factors can be responsible for the change and improvisation of the proposed itinerary. In such cases, the group leader or the trekking guide would decide the best alternative possible and try to minimize the problem as per the group’s interest. However, the company would not be responsible for the result of the alternatives and change in the suggested itinerary.
In case of health problems:
In case of altitude sickness and other health hazards during the trip, Lovely Nepal can charter a helicopter for you. In case you use this service, you can do the payment at our office. The payment receipt will be provided so that you can claim the amount from insurance.
In case of Flight Delay:
There might be certain delay in flight schedule from few hours to few days while flying to and from Lukla. The extreme weather conditions, technical problems and minimum visibility can be the barrier for the landing and taking off of the flight. In case of these difficulties, Lovely Nepal Tours can charter a helicopter to make sure you won’t miss your international flight. In this case, the cost of the chopper can be paid directly at our office. You would be provided with the payment receipt so that you can claim the amount from insurance. However, it is a good idea to keep few spare days at the end of the itinerary while trekking in Everest region to minimize the effect of flight delay.
